Your Go-To Recipes for a Plant-Based Thanksgiving
Believe it or not, Thanksgiving is quickly approaching! Those of us in Canada are only about two weeks out from our Thanksgiving celebrations, and though it may still seem far, my American friends will be celebrating only a few short weeks after us. All of this to say, it’s time to start planning your Thanksgiving meal to share with your family and friends for this harvest holiday. Whether you plan to cook the entire meal yourself, or you’re looking for a great, Vegetarian dish to bring to a dinner, I’ve combined all of my favourites into one blog so you can easily create as many (or only one!) dishes as you’d like!
Fall Themed Focaccia Bread
Who doesn’t love carbs, especially in the fall? This focaccia is the perfect side dish, or even an appetizer to serve at your Thanksgiving dinner this year. I used all of my own herbs, edible flowers and pumpkin grown from my garden to create this beautiful design. You know what they say, we eat with our eyes first! Check out the full recipe here!
Roasted Tomato Pumpkin Soup
Soup is one of my favourite meals to make during the cooler months, and this soup is the perfect autumnal vibe, whether it be for a first course at Thanksgiving, or just a weeknight dinner. Again, I grew the veggies, and herbs fresh from my garden – there’s just something so satisfying about eating food you know you’ve grown yourself, and eating seasonally. Want to add this soup to your Thanksgiving menu? Check out the recipe here.
Thyme & Maple Glazed Turnips
Whenever you think of fall flavours, everyone automatically thinks of pumpkin and apple, but maple is one of the best fall flavours in my opinion. It can be used in a sweet treat, or to sweeten up a hearty dish like these thyme & maple glazed turnips. The full recipe for this delicious side dish can be found right here!
Parmesan Carrots
One of my newest recipes, these warm and delicious parmesan carrots have quickly become one of my favourites to serve into the fall season, and would make an incredible side dish at your holiday meals this fall and winter. A cheesy dish can never go wrong, in my humble opinion! Check out the blog that features the full recipe here!
* Note: This recipe is vegetarian, if you want the dish to be entirely plant-based, swap the parmesan for a vegan parmesan alternative.
Hosting & Cooking Essentials
Whether you’re hosting the holiday this year, or simply gearing up to bring a dish to a dinner, I’ve collected a few of my absolute favourite hosting & cooking essentials for you to check out!
I hope this blog gave you tons of ideas of how to create delicious, vegetarian & plant-based dishes for Thanksgiving this year. In addition to creating these sides, I also love to make the mushroom based stuffing from the cookbook Fraiche Food Full Hearts, as well as a roasted cauliflower as a main dish! Let me know in the comments below if you’re going to make any of these dishes, and if you have, what you thought of them!
