Natural Easter Tablescape
Easter is right around the corner and if you are looking for sustainable and eco-conscious ideas for your tablescape, I have you covered! I am hosting Easter this year, about 14 people and I love to decorate the table. Easter brings so many playful colours like pinks, oranges, purples, greens and yellows. I thought I would share how I will be decorating the table this year for our guests, the natural way!
As an avid gardener, I love to grow flowers in my backyard. For the very first time ever I decided to grow specialty daffodils (narcissus) and I was not disappointed. I love the scent, the colours and the brightness they bring to the table. Choosing fresh flowers whether it is from your backyard or a local farm is always the best way to naturally decorate the table. A little goes a long way!
Dried flowers bring an everlasting beauty to your home that can be displayed all year. I added a large bouquet of dried strawflowers in the middle in my fav farmhouse pottery vase. I grew strawflowers for the first time last year and dried a few bouquets. They are one of my favourite flowers to grow now and the vibrant colours remains when dried. They are truly the best easter colours! I also added a few bunny tails in there to bring an easter bunny vibe to the space. You’ll notice I also added a little dried lavender and bunny tails in bud vases. All the vases are recycled from hot sauces or skin care products.
Add a touch of flowers that you can plant afterwards! I added two potted ranunculus to the table that I will plant out after the easter weekend to enjoy blooms for weeks. You can add tulips, daffodils, hyacinths or bluebells to a pot with soil to enjoy blooms for a longer period.
Let's add a touch of nature with beeswax candles. Did you know beeswax candles are the purest candle you can burn? I found a lovely local company Crowfoot Collective that makes carrots, Brussels sprouts (coming soon!) and egg shaped candles. The perfect natural addition to the table to bring a candlelight ambiance.
For dinnerware and cutlery, use what you have. If I have more guests than I do plates and cutlery, I usually borrow some from one of the guests (usually my mom) to ensure I do not have to use any disposable dinnerware. Same goes for napkins! Invest in reusable napkins to use year after year. These ones are from East of Pine and dyed naturally using plants, and my daily dinnerware is from Fable (use code THEPURPOSEFULYOU to save 10% on your order!)
I hope this can inspire you to decorate the table as naturally as possible! Using what you have is key and invest in pieces to use year after year like candles, vases and napkins. Happy Easter!
